Conference Photography in The Google Foundry

It is always a pleasure to photograph conferences produced by Cogs & Marvel, and I enjoy it even more when the event takes place at The Google Foundry on Barrow Street in Dublin. On this occasion, my assignment was to photograph a Google Cloud training conference.

One of the aspects I enjoy most about conference photography is using stage lighting to create flattering, cinematic images. In addition, I find conferences particularly rewarding because of the diverse range of subjects and industries they cover. As a result, I often leave having learned something new as well as captured great photographs.

The Foundry is a truly unique venue. Not only has Google developed these spaces specifically for clients and partners, but it also hosts a wide variety of events in the heart of Dublin city. Furthermore, the venue combines cutting-edge technology with exceptional comfort, all within Google’s Dublin headquarters.

In addition, The Foundry features a 360-seat auditorium, multiple meeting rooms, catering facilities, and professional broadcasting capabilities. Consequently, it is an ideal setting for conferences, training events, and corporate gatherings. From a photographer’s perspective, it is always a pleasure to work there thanks to its distinctive architecture and attractive interior design.

As always, Cogs & Marvel created an extraordinary event experience. Their passion for what they do is evident in every detail, from the event planning to the final execution. Moreover, there is always a genuine “wow” factor that sets their productions apart.

Unsurprisingly, Cogs & Marvel were delighted with the photographs. For me, a happy client is one of the most rewarding aspects of being an event photographer, and positive feedback makes every assignment even more worthwhile.

I like to use the stage lights to create flattering and cinematic images. I also really enjoy photographing conferences because of the diverse subject matter I hear. Besides, I also learn a lot about new subjects.

The Foundry is a unique location. Google developed these spaces for their clients and partners and hosts events in Dublin city.  It has all the technology and comfort they’ll need within Google’s Dublin headquarter building.

The Foundry has a 360-seat auditorium, meeting rooms, catering and broadcasting facilities. It is always great to photograph at The Foundry as it has such an attractive and unique interior design.

Event Photography at The Mansion House

Event Fuel gave me the project to photograph Nissan Ireland’s 40th Anniversary gala dinner. This took place at the Round Room in Dublin’s Mansion House. Here are some of my favourite images from the evening.

I always love photographing an event at The Mansion House as it is such an incredible room to photograph in. With state of the art lighting and cutting edge visuals, The Mansion House provides a great setting for event photography. Most noteworthy is that the balcony in the Round Room is a great vantage point for creative overhead photographs.

Steeped in history, the first Dail Eireann took place in the Round Room in 1919. Soon after, the ratification of the Anglo-Irish Treaty transpired here in 1921.  This was 100 years after the construction of the room to receive the British monarch.  The ratification ended the Anglo Irish War, declared Ireland as a Free State and caused the Civil War.

I like to photograph an event in a natural and unobtrusive way. This allows me to capture the atmosphere and everyone looking at their very best. For pictures when people have to look at the camera, I try to make them as natural looking as possible also.

My down-to-earth and friendly nature makes people usually feel at ease in my company. Primarily I like to keep things simple and not make a fuss, which I find people really appreciate. This is especially perfect for people who do not like posing for photographs.

Guinness Storehouse Event Photography

The after-party for Thermo Fisher Scientific Dublin conference was at Guinness Storehouse and these are some images from the evening.

I always love photographing an event at The Guinness Storehouse. With raw stone walls, industrial beams and exposed pipes, The Guinness Storehouse offers a lot of character and history. It makes a great backdrop for event photography.

One of the most unique venues, set over seven floors, can be hired exclusively for various corporate events. Each floor gives experiences where guests can explore and feel Ireland’s rich history and brewing heritage. The Gravity Bar also offers the best 360-degree views across Dublin. It is just perfect for experiential events.

I like to take event pictures in a natural way. This allows me to capture the atmosphere and everyone looking at their very best.

For the required, more posed pictures when people have to be looking at the camera, I try to make as natural looking as possible also. I am very down to earth and friendly so people usually feel relaxed in my company.

Basically. I like to keep things simple and not make a fuss, which I find people really appreciate. This is especially what is best for people who do not like posing for pictures.

I received a really interesting assignment for The Sexton Whiskey company. The brief was to interpret The Sexton’s ethos “Own The Night” in my own individual style around Dublin City centre.

Event Photography for The Sexton Whiskey Company

The Sexton was launching to consumers at a photography exhibition in central London. It was, however, an exhibition with a twist.

On Thursday 30th May, The Sexton Whiskey launched the first photography exhibition where the images on display appear live; uploaded as they are being taken by photographers across the UK and Ireland.

The exhibition took place at 15 Bateman St, a gallery space in central London. For the entire duration (6pm – 11pm), they displayed the images across 10 43-inch high-resolution screens.  Afterward, they then arranged the images, gallery-style along the walls.

My trusty assistant and I let off into the night to see what we would come across. Everyone was very accommodating and interested in the project. I always find once you explain a project properly to people, they become excited and interested.

It was great fun wandering around the city at night, talking to people and hearing all their stories. It allows you to see the city in a whole new light.

Going back to my role there as a photographer, I used my over 15 years of experience in handling such events. I pride myself on producing perfectly composed, natural and artistic event photography. I am also very unobtrusive in my approach and this allows me to capture the atmosphere and everyone looking at their very best.

The Sexton were also delighted with the images. It goes without saying that a happy customer is always one of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer for me.
